Date with Catherine Zeta-Jones
Date with Catherine Zeta-Jones
Some time ago, I published an article called "Body Language". Today, let's review some show cases. Gentlemen, I'm not gonna ask, if would like a date with Catherine Zeta Jones. I rather ask, would you be able to correctly interpret a body language of a fine actor? Find out.

First show case depicts a scene from "Intolerable Cruelty" movie. Pay attention to George Clooney's character. Although he put on an expression of self-findence, his hands, especially the right one, tell that he is not either so sure, or he is eager to know, what he suppose only. Later, entire date falls into an interogation because of him. Rather than this character, take the inspiration from Catherine. Her posture says "I am fine a hold my ground". At the end, leaning forward is more of "I won't get intimidated", than a sign of interest.

Second show case is a discussion with actors about the movie. Right from the beginning, Catherine's right hand reveals that she thinks, what the best answer would be. Pay your attention as Charlie Rose, moderator, asks question. Unlike George Clooney in the previous show case, Charlie's body language puts them into a different light. He does not provoke one's alertness.
At 0:30, Joel Cone, at the right, makes a nice presentation, what posture you should never take. George does better, to me - he makes "second violin" impression "only". Especially at 0:48, take a closer look as the look down at the table and lip rubbing.
After first minute, Catherine gets relaxed and your date should behave this way as well. Relax and enjoy. It is just nice as she used gestures to and intoantion to empahse "Oh, those Beverly Hills people...". Drawing hair back at 1:07 is a quite clear signal:-) Nervertheless, she looks at desk from time to time. She still cares about her answers. In a date context, we could consider this as a positive signal, since she cares about our opinion on her answers.
A little forward-leaned posture of Charlie indicates his interest. At 1:24, Catherine leans back - she's relaxed. At 1:43, George does not save the situation. To me, he looks somehow bored.
Summed all up, man not spoken a word is a clear example, how it should never look like. George Clooney does far better than him, yet I see his performance only as half good. Nevertheless, you can take the inspiration from Catherine and Charlie. Just be aware that you would like her to touch you on a date;-) There was nothing like that here. And one more lesson, although Charlie had such good response, it still does not mean that Catherine was interested enough in him. Even, if she was availalbe at that time, as she was not.
